What is a Galette?

A galette is a free-form tart that originated in France. It’s made with a flaky pastry crust and filled with various fruits or savory ingredients. The beauty of a galette lies in its rustic appearance, with the edges of the crust folded over the filling, creating a charming, imperfect shape. It’s perfectly imperfect!

Using Store-Bought Pie Crust

When it comes to baking delicious desserts, sometimes we just don’t have time to make everything from scratch. There is nothing wrong with shortcuts, especially when flavor isn’t compromised. That’s where store-bought pie crusts come in handy. • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • Optional: powdered sugar for dusting, whipped cream, or vanilla ice cream

Follow these easy instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

  8. Remove the galette from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes on the baking sheet.
  9. Transfer the galette to a wire rack to cool completely.
  10. Once cooled, you can dust the galette with powdered sugar for an extra touch of sweetness.
